Nostalgia for Mac · Beta

Make a start on that box of photos.

Scan several prints, check every crop, rotate sideways photos and keep going in the same album. Your originals stay on your Mac. Connect your Nostalgia account when you want to back up reviewed photos.

Checking the latest Mac release…

From scanner to family album

  1. Choose a local album

Use a compatible scanner through macOS scanner controls, or import scan files from the software you already use. Support depends on your scanner and its macOS driver.

  2. Check the photos

Review borders, split close prints and rotate each crop. Export PNG photos or continue scanning. Local scanning and export are free during the beta.

  3. Back up when you’re ready

Sign in, choose an online album and back up the selected scan. The full scan is preserved and each reviewed crop becomes a separate photo. Repeating backup reuses completed transfers.

  4. Continue with your family

Open the backed-up album on web, iPhone, iPad or Android. Review possible duplicates, restore selected photos, add names and stories, and choose what to share.

Install and keep your work

Unzip the download and drag Nostalgia to Applications. Local albums work without signing in. An existing Nostalgia Companion archive opens in the new app without moving its original files; sign in again to connect your online account.

Quit the scanner before installing an update. Updates are downloaded manually during the beta. Keep a separate backup of your local archive and export important photos before changing computers.

Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later are supported by this build. Windows is planned next; Linux is under consideration. Store distribution will follow later.
