From scanner to family album

1. Scan into an album

   Choose an album and scan several prints at once with a compatible flatbed, or import files from your scanner’s own software. Nostalgia finds each photo on the scanner bed for you.

2. Check each photo

   Adjust the borders with the mouse or keyboard, turn photos upright, and link a photo to the back you scanned. Check & Next saves your work and moves on. Stop any time and pick up where you left off.

3. Back up the ones you choose

   Sign in and back up the photos you have checked. Pause between scans; anything already sent is never sent twice.

4. Bring the family in

   On the web or your iPhone, repair scratches and tears, restore faded photos, and ask relatives who is in the picture. Their answers stay with the photo.

Your photos stay yours

Your original scans stay untouched on your Mac, beside the borders and turns you chose. Scanning, checking and saving copies of your photos need no account and are free. Backing up and restoring online need an account and follow your plan.

A photo’s front and back stay linked on your Mac and in your archive backups. Online backup keeps both images; the link between them does not travel online yet.

Install and keep your work

From the Mac App Store, Nostalgia installs and updates like any other app. With the direct download, unzip it and drag Nostalgia to Applications, and get updates from this page.

Use one of the two on each Mac: they keep separate albums. Keep a separate backup of your archive (Save archive backup) before changing computers.

Works on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later. Scanning directly needs a scanner that works with macOS Image Capture.
