Mobile vs. Web — Which to Use When

Nostalgia works on both. Here is when to use each and how they connect.

Use mobile when...

  • Scan a printed photo or a small stack with your phone camera
  • Choose which scans should continue into Photo Insight
  • Get guided capture with real-time quality feedback
  • Digitize photos at a family gathering on the spot
  • Open Progress & Review when background work completes

Mobile is optimized for capture and quick decisions: scan, check, choose, and return to Progress & Review when work is ready.

Use web when...

  • Process a stack of scanned photos in batch
  • Review and compare results on a larger screen
  • Organize your Archive: albums, quick filters, timeline, and trash
  • Set up Family Vaults and share with relatives
  • Advanced editing with crop, adjust, and guided repair tools
  • Continue Progress & Review from a larger workspace

Web is designed for the larger workspace: batch processing, detailed review, captions, albums, and Family follow-through.

How they work together

Everything syncs through your account. Scan on mobile, then open web to review batches, compare results, add captions, and organize albums. Start a batch on web, then check Progress & Review from your phone. The top-level structure stays consistent: Archive, Restore, Family, and You.

Feature availability

The web app is live now, iPhone is available on the App Store, and Android is rolling out through Google Play testing — check the Get the App page for the latest Android tester invite status.
