Remember the places

Your family’s story, drawn on a map.

A photo taken today records where it was taken. A print from 1962 records nothing. Nostalgia maps the places you confirm: the village written on the back of a photo, the city a caption names, the places in an imported family tree. Confirm a “Where” once and the photo takes its spot on the map, until the archive shows the family’s whole migration story, from the old country to everywhere you are now.

How It Works

From a place name to a pin

1

A place gets named

Type where a photo was taken, accept a suggestion from the handwriting on the back, or let a caption or your family tree propose it. The place is always yours to confirm.

2

The photo takes its spot

A confirmed place becomes a pin. Photos from the same town gather together, with the years they span, so a place reads as a chapter rather than a dot.

3

The story draws itself

Open the map from your Library and watch the archive spread out: the villages, the port cities, the new homes. The distance your family covered becomes something you can see.

Three maps, one archive

The Archive Map

Every photo with a confirmed place, on one map of your whole collection. A grouped place list sits beside the map, so the same story is always readable as a list too.

A person’s journey

Open someone’s page and see their life as a route: where the photos of them were taken, in order, across a lifetime. A grandmother’s page becomes the road she actually travelled.

A vault’s family map

A shared Family Vault gets its own map of everything the family has gathered there, so a branch spread across three countries can see itself in one place.

Only what you confirm

Pins come from places you name and confirm, never from your camera roll’s GPS or any location tracking. Old photos have no coordinates; the map is built from memory, on purpose.

See how far your family came

Add the places while someone still remembers them, and the map will hold the whole journey for the people who come after.
